Man Arrested for Alleged Strangling and Assault

A Brownsville man is behind bars for alleging strangling his girlfriend, and assaulting her two children.

Authorities say 33-year-old Alberto de la Cruz hit and choked his girlfriend last week. She was able to break free and reported the incident.

Cruz was arrested on Saturday. Investigators say it was then he confessed to assaulting her two children. An 11-month-old and 2-year-old. They are recovering from multiple fractures throughout their body.

Cruz is being held on $500,000 bond.
