In health matters, drinking water is one of the best ways to stay hydrated and beat the heat. If you like your drinks really cool on a hot day, you may want to warm them up by a degree or two.
Chinese Researchers say icy water may not work as well as water at room temperature to cool you off.
That’s because when it comes to replacing lost fluids in your system..
Your body has to work to adjust the liquid’s temperature to around ninety-seven degrees before it is absorbed into your system.
Experts say the problem is not necessarily for healthy young people drinking ice cold water. However, it could be a significant issue for middle-aged and older people, especially with chronic health problems.
The icy cold temperatures cause constriction of blood vessels of the heart, which can result in chest pain or heart rhythm irregularities. Constriction of those vessels can also cause digestive problems if the abdominal area is reached.
Experts say when your body is really hot, it’s ok to drink something cool – just not ice cold.
