Congress is set to pass legislation that would double the interest on university student loans.
that interest would go from 3.4 to 6.8%. This has students across the state worried to say the least. This morning in an effort to halt this change, student representatives from University of Texas Chapters across the state gathered to voice their opinions in hopes of stopping the increase.
If Congress approves the increase, it will go into effect July 1st, but will only affect those students that apply for financial aid starting Fall of 2012.
