Man Falls to Death at a South Padre Island Resort

Authorities responded to the Peninsula Island Resort and Spa at around 4:45 a.m. and found 31-year-old Portland, Texas Resident Robert Ainsworth dead at the scene.
Police believe he, along with 32-year-old Jason Elliot, were burglarizing condos near the top of the building.
Elliot was arrested in connection to the death. Investigators say the Corpus Christi Resident was found in possession of $11,000 in cash and valuables, and believe he was present during the fall. Elliot has not been formally charged in Aimsworth’s death, but authorities say they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
