The body of a McAllen-native marine killed in Afghanistan this weekend has returned to the U.S.
Staff Sergeant Joseph Henry Fankhauser arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware this afternoon. He was killed Sunday in Helmand Province, after an explosive device he was attempting to dismantle exploded. The 30-year-old is a Purple Heart recipient, as well as receiving numerous other awards during his 12 years of service. He is expected to be buried in California, where he lived with his wife.
