McAllen Auto-Pedestrian Fatality

It’s a very tragic story to report tonight. The victim who died was only 16 years old.

It was around 6:50 in the morning when the tragic accident happened.16-year-old Marisa Bauman was hit by a maroon Ford 4-door vehicle going west on Harvey Street. Marisa was walking on 21st Street to McAllen High School.

“Marisa died instantly,” said Rosa Treviño, Justice of the Peace.

“The impact caused serious head trauma. Authorities continue investigating what caused this accident,” said Lt. Joel Morales, McAllen Police Department.

Apparently the driver of the vehicle was on her way to work. Residents of Harvey Street say they’ve contacted the city several times about the lack of street signs and visibility. Justice of the Peace Rosa Treviño says this is the second fatal accident she works with this week. She sends a warning to all drivers. The McAllen School District has sent a statement, where they extend their heartfelt sympathy toward the family. They say grief counselors have been made available to the students in this time of grief. The driver is not facing any charges at this moment, but this may change as the investigation furthers.
