In London, thousands of women dressed in costumes marched across the millennium bridge, releasing doves to symbolize world peace. Women in Bosnia released thousands of white balloons to mark the day. While in Russia, men gave women flowers on the special day. Iraqi women also celebrated the day of rights in country’s capital. First Lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also participated in the day by presenting “Women of Courage” awards in Washington, D.C. The event honored ten women who are making a difference across the globe.
