500 lbs of Marijuana seized at accident scene

As Hidalgo county sheriff’s deputies process today’s accident scene, Border Patrol agents discover 800 pounds of marijuana inside the black ford explorer.

Police say an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a Chevy impala — the driver refused to stop engaging in a high speed pursuit. The suspect bailed out after crashing near a residential area. The driver managed to get away, abandoning the vehicle loaded with marijuana.

The vehicle was traced to a Starr county address and the investigation continues.
