Arraigned for Child Endangerment

Twenty-year-old, Antonio Lopez Jr., faced two counts of child endangerment and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. His total bond was set at $600,000 by Judge Juan Alvarez. According to reports, he shot his brother in law in the leg while two children were in the backseat of the vehicle, when asked why he did it, he claimed he was innocent. The incident occurred in front of a home on February 2nd, located on the 700 block of Colorado Ave. in Mercedes, according to official reports the victim was shot on the left leg, and was released later from the hospital. Police say that the suspect got into a heated argument moments before the shooting occurred. Mercedes police officials say that there may be one more arrest in connection to this crime.
