The materials arrive by sea to the Port of Brownsville to be stored and distributed by land through cargo to various places mostly in Mexico. In 2011, this activity of exporting steel positively impacted the economic growth of the Port of Brownsville. A million dollar contract with a company dedicated to the handling of liquid and gas promises to generate just over 500 jobs to the Rio Grande Valley.
