Hidalgo county sheriff’s investigators are working to identify the victim, but they did say his murder was drug related.
32-year-old Andres Guadalupe Lozano was charged with murder after hidalgo county sheriff’s deputies arrested him for the killing of an individual found shot to death in Weslaco Monday afternoon.
Sheriff Lupe Trevino tells fox 2 news, this case is a drug debt collection gone bad.
According to investigators, the victim and another individual went to Francisco Gonzalez’s residence on Palos Altos Street demanding drug money, jewelry and other assets to cover the debt… However, the homeowner’s wife called Lozano and 21-year-old Francisco Hernandez Zamora for protection against the armed men.
The man who was killed during the shooting has several tattoos, including the name “Freddy” across his back and one of a female “Esperanza and “Hecho en Mexico on his right calve… Authorities have no idea who he is.
Andres Guadalupe Lozano remains behind bars on a one million dollar bond… Francisco Hernandez Zamora is expected to face first-degree murder charges soon.
Francisco Hernandez Zamora remains in police custody in Nuevo Progresso, Tamaulipas Mexico… FBI agents and hidalgo county sheriff’s officers are working closely to have him extradited to the United States soon.
