28 year old arraigned for fatal accident

28 year old Dulce Elizabeth Diaz faced criminal negligent homicide charges today for her involvement in an accident that claimed the life of 9 year old Priscilla Cabrera.

According to DPS officials, the fatal accident happened at about 3am Sunday morning at the intersection of Val Verde and canton roads in Edinburg.

The victim was traveling with her aunt and uncle south on Val Verde road when Diaz’s vehicle traveling east on canton road broadsided it.

A DPS trooper tells fox 2 news a stop sign at the intersection was missing, and authorities are focusing their investigation on finding out why and who is to blame for the missing stop sign?

Meanwhile, Dulce Elizabeth Diaz was arrested Monday after DPS officials determined she failed to give the right of way when a bigger roadway has the right of way over a smaller road… Diaz also neglected a traffic sign located west of the intersection indicating that a stop sigh was ahead.

The accident is still under investigation… Officials have not determined if speed or alcohol played an important role in the fatal crash.

Dulce Elizabeth Diaz, remains behind bars at the Hidalgo county detention center on a 100 thousand dollar bond.. In Edinburg, Antonio Rodriguez, fox 2 news at nine.
