11-Year- Old PSJA Student Passes Away After Collapsing During Class

Tonight, the PSJA independent school district mourns the loss of one of their students. A sixth grade student from Austin middle school in San Juan died after collapsing at school this morning. PSJA ISD officials say it happened while at a morning migrant club meeting on campus. The 11-year-old girl was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital where shortly after she passed away. Austin middle school sent out a letter to all parents notifying them of the situation as well as providing counseling services for both students and staff in the next coming days. The girl’s name was not released in order to allow the student’s family enough time to inform all their family members about her death. The PSJA district did give their condolences to the family in what they say is a very sad time for the PSJA community.
